Located in Villa María del Triunfo, Lima. It is one of the largest and most chaotic cemeteries in Latin America, built on a steep hillside by poor families. The improvised tombs and the absolute precariousness reflect extreme social inequalities and a strange atmosphere.
Walking through it is a mixture of awe and reflection on death and poverty. It is not a typical tourist site, but its starkness makes it shocking. Many tombs are decorated with personal belongings.
